Robin Hood Poster

So as you've seen on this blog before,
I am into Graphic Art and Design.

Recently I entered in the contest to design the Robin Hood
poster for my theatre group at school!
Robin Hood is the spring student and faculty play!

I am really excited about the way my entry
turned out! And no matter what the
outcome of the contest is, I'm proud of my work!

So here it is….. My Robin Hood poster

I am so excited for Robin Hood in general!
I am playing the role of the hilarious Sheriff's wife, and I'm
having a blast! This is going to be a great show with
a talented cast! Come see us in April!

You will definitely be hearing/reading about it
much more from me in the future!

Spring Fever Hair Chop

Every year around Spring time
I always want to chop off
my long hair.

Well this year I decided to take my desire to shop of my hair to the next level.  My New Years Resolution was to donate at least 8-12 inches of my hair for Locks of Love.  Since my hair grows so fast by springtime each year I want to go for a much shorter cut.  Because a girl has just got to change it up every now and again! Am I right?

This is my hair length currently.  I have about roughly 8 inches to donate so far.

I would LOVE to wait till closer to school lets out to cut it, but I'm so excited I can hardly wait! I want to be able to meet my donating length goal though, and I feel if I cut my hair now, instead of waiting a few more months, it won't fulfill my goal.

Here is what I want my hair to look like after!

This is my favorite blogger who specializes in Vintage styles. She's amazing so look her up!
Vixen Vintage, and her name is Solannah!
My favorite actress is Rachel McAdams and I LOOOVE her hair like this! The cute short brown as well and the honey colored shoulder length cut! Super cute!

So what do you think?
Could I pull these off?

Sunday Funday

The weather was GORGEOUS today!
Beautiful sky, shining sun and perfect temperatures!

It was so nice to walk around the City of Richmond today! There's nothing like taking an amazing walk in weather that's finally warming up after a long and freezing winter. I just really hope the temperatures stay this lovely!

Sometimes it's just nice to take a moment to feel gratitude towards beautiful days like today.  Lately I've been mad at Mother Nature for bringing whether that ruined my plans. Snow that pushed back TARZAN and canceled my opportunity to see my grandparents in New York. But today I finally felt "warm" feelings for Mother Nature (haha get it?).  I'm excited for this spring and now I'm looking forward to spending more beautiful days outside! I just hope this wasn't a tease and it goes back to being cold...

Well that's all for now!

60 Years of Love

Tom and Doris Caravaglia
celebrating 60 years of marriage today!

My grandparents are amazing. My nana and papa (pictured above on their wedding day in 1954) have been married 60 years today.  These past 60 years have been filled with life's share of love, children, tragedy, hard times, great times, celebrations, grandchildren, and most importantly - each other.

In a society where it's common, and almost easy to divorce, I marvel at how refreshing it is to see a couple live together through 60 years of life.  In some ways it restores my faith in humanity. Not only my faith in humanity, but my faith in love.  My nana and papa have proven that it IS possible! That if you work together, even through hardships, the love you have can prevail!  I really hope this kind of marriage isn't a thing of the past, I would love to see this exist in my generation, and in my own life.

When I was 7 years old I remember attending my nana and papa's Big 50th Anniversary party and hearing a bit of advice that I took not only for marriage, I was seven after all, but for life in general.  My nana said the secret to marriage is to never go to bed angry.  I really took that to heart.  Life is short and no one should ever go to bed feeling angry towards someone they love.  You never know how long you have with a family member, a friend, or a significant other.  Don't regret wasting time by going to bed angry.  "Even in rough patches never stop saying 'I Love You' before you go to sleep."

I am so inspired by the love my nana and papa have shared over the last 60 years.

My Grandparents on their 60th Wedding
Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!
Love is Amazing.

17th Birthday

17 years old on
February 18th, 2014

WOW! I have the best friends ever!  Today I turned 17 years old! When I woke up this morning I got ready for school as usual and was surprised to find my best friends Noah (whose also my boyfriend) and Lydia standing in my living room with balloons and Dunkin' Donuts (my favorite)!  I was so surprised!

As the day progressed I was greeted kindly with birthday wishes both in person and on my Facebook wall, which put a smile on my face! It was nice to have my birthday on the school day when I like the classes I have (yay theatre!).

I was fortunate to spend my Birthday Dinner with my very best friends! Noah, Lydia, Chris, Debbie (chris's mom), my mom and my brother! The food was delicious and the laughs we shared were amazing!

I am so grateful for my boyfriend who gave me an amazing present! Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume (YESSS!), a beautiful candle, and a Beauty and the Beast pin! Love you Noah and thank you soooo much!

Lydia's gifts brought a smile to my face and made me laugh until I cried! I cannot wait to make a necklace for my vintage pendant (you know me so well).

Huge thank you to my mommy for my first pair of Doc Martins! I love them so much and I cannot wait to wear them tomorrow!

I had an amazing day! Thank you so much for the love, and birthday wishes!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is the most debated, and
misinterpreted holiday.

To me Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving are very similar.  So why then do so many people love Thanksgiving and then hate Valentine's Day?  I think it's because media has given us false and high expectations about what Valentine's Day should be.  Reality isn't like the movies.

To me, I use Valentine's Day to thank those I love for being there for me.  To acknowledge my love for them in return.  To express my gratitude for the love I have in my life.  I can understand how some people think this is a made-up corporate holiday to get us to purchase cheesy cards, chocolates and fuzzy bears that say "I love you" on their butts.  But so what? Why can't you just give in?  For those who "poop" on Valentine's Day gifts, I know it would make you smile if someone got one for you.   My parents have saved every one of the cards my brother and I have either bought or made for them in past Valentine's days.  Because Valentine's Day isn't about the superficial stuff.  It's about the love you can feel for family and friends.

I just find it ironic that the holiday dedicated to expressing love, gets hated on the most.  If you are feeling down today because you don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend, or a wife or a husband, look a little deeper within.  See the love around you. Your Valentine could be a friend, a brother, a sister, a mother, a father.  Valentine's Day doesn't have to be a big deal.  It's just one day out of 365.  So don't be so hard on yourself, if you don't get this day right, you have 364 more chances!  And Hey, it's a great excuse to eat a sweet!

Happy Valentine's Day! And remember, it's just a day.
Tell someone you love them.

So I just have one more thing to ask….

Affirmation of the day.
"I surround myself with love.   I am loved.  I love others.  Love is an abundant source in my life."

Going with the Flow

Today I've thought a lot about going with the flow of life.

Life.  We fill our days with routines.  We have a rhythm. We establish a flow and we stick to it.  A flow so in sync that when it's broken we often find ourselves not knowing what to do.  Is this flow bad?  Are we holding ourselves back from accomplishing daily miracles because we subconsciously refuse to exit our flow? Is your personal flow keeping you from spontaneous adventure lurking around the corner?

There are two types of rolling with the flow. 1) You are subconsciously moving along your life in a routine.  Unaware that you, in fact, are even in a flow.  This flow can be positive or negative, and can affect you either way.  2) You make a conscious choice to have a positive attitude when handling daily life hurdles.  It's like when someone will say to you "Just go with the flow, man."

Today (for me) was a good lesson in going with the flow with a smile on my face.  As we all know, this Winter 2014 mess has brought many hurdles for people with pre-existing plans.  My mother, brother and I were supposed to go up to New York to visit my nana and papa for the weekend on Friday afternoon.  Due to weather conditions I came home from school to find out that instead of Friday we were now to leave Wednesday evening! Well this was great news to me! I'm just enjoying rolling with the flow of this spontaneous trip.  Then we hear word that our train had been cancelled, and we had no choice but to take a train in less than 24 hours.

Having not even started packing I could look at this either two ways.  1) I could stress and panic about not being ready in time to leave, or 2) I could make a choice to go with the flow and trust spirit that everything will be ready in time.  I chose option 2.

No one can control the weather and sometimes life throws you minor hiccups.  Things can change in an instant.  Try to be aware of your flow.  You have the choice in the way you roll with life.

  Just something to think about

Who Better Than Me

"Who better than me to help you?
Who better than me to put a smile on his
face?"

Every so often you meet someone who's truly loved by everyone they know.  They shine so bright, and have such a positive energy that you can't help but be drawn to them.  I am fortunate to have someone like that in my life! Nikhil!

This portrait is of one of my very good friends, Nikhil.  For those of you who don't know, nikhil played the lovable role of Terk in my high school's musical production of Tarzan! Nikhil, like Terk, is a great friend to everyone and always knows how to put a smile on my face.  Besides being such a nice guy, Nikhil is HILARIOUS (and I know everyone agrees with that statement).   It is impossible to not laugh when you are around him.  Nikhil is so great and so I dedicate this picture to him.  I tried to capture his spirit, his smile and his heart.

You are so awesome Nikhil! I'm so glad we are friends! Hope you like this!!!

Love,

One Food Forever

"If you could only eat one food dish for
the rest of your life what would it be?"

Today I just feel like answering this random question.  If I had to have one main food dish for the rest of my life I would choose Thai Fried Rice.  Thai Fried Rice is my everything.  That is the one food I crave the most at random times throughout my day.

I love it because its delicious and nutritious! There are fresh vegetables, meat for protein, and rice.  It's just so yummy.  I would be highly satisfied if this was the only food I could eat for the rest of my life.

It is an interesting question though.  As Americans we have so many choices (our country is the melting pot after all).  America is filled with amazing Thai, Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, Japanese, Greek, Polish restaurants, and many more.  It would be hard to give all of that up for only one food dish.

So… What food could you eat everyday for the rest of YOUR life?!
I'd love for you to tell me in the comment section below!

Flappy Bird

MOST FRUSTRATING GAME EVER!

Every now and again there is a new game that captures the hearts and minds of all who play them.  Flappy Birds, although popular, is NOT that game.  Flappy Birds is perhaps the hardest app game I've ever played.

I ,by no stretch of the imagination, am a gamer.  I mainly use my phone for social media and other popular apps.  Not games.  However my curiosity got the best of me when all of my friends started to talk about "Flappy Bird".  I thought nothing of it at first, but then before I knew it, EVERYONE was talking about this dumb game!

As someone who prides themselves on never playing Candy Crush (because who wants that addiction), I gave in and downloaded the highly stressed out flappy bird.  Soon after playing for 5 minutes, I realized I had been trying to play this game for an hour!  It is SO hard!

Flappy Bird is not a game of strategy, nor is it a game with levels.  It was specifically created to look like an old-fashion arcade game that could be played multiple times and ultimately become addicting.  I personally really like the simplicity of it.  Simple task, simple graphics, simple format. Sounds easy right?  Wrong.

Never have I gotten so frustrated with a game in my life! While some of my friends have high scores like 47, and 64,  I have a whopping high score of 13.  I think the addicting part isn't the game itself, it's personal competition with yourself.  I feel like I have to keep trying to better my score!  The fact that this game has stirred so much dialogue at my high school is impressive.  You can't get through a class period without someone asking you your Flappy Birds score.

What I have loved more than the wide-spread frenzy of this game, is the content created around the game being frustrating.  Youtubers have made hilarious videos of themselves trying to play.  Not only videos but now there are Flappy Bird Memes that appear on every social media.

If you haven't downloaded Flappy Bird..... I don't know if you should... part of me wants to tell you to do it.... but the other part of me wants to save you from the agony that is this game. The choice is yours.... only you can decide.

Below are the links to funny Youtube videos on reacting to Flappy Bird.
